Ghost Vipers employ the latest advances in D.I.R.E. (Dread-Inducing Responsive Energy) Tech based on the research of Cobra paranormal expert Crystal Ball. Their specialized containment packs store harnessed extradimensional energies of an unknown origin which are then channeled through the Ghost Viper's suit or projector. The spectral ectoplasm emitted can manifest as bursts of gas or, with proper attunement and user concentration, as physical forms such as claws or masks — all of which induce a preternatural fear in those nearby.
Truly adept Ghost Vipers manifest D.I.R.E. Beasts: full-sized corporeal creatures — D.I.R.E. wolves and D.I.R.E. snakes — that attack on command. Most Ghost Vipers are “a little off” due to long-term exposure to the vented energy. They also need to take care not to completely empty their packs, as the projections tend to suck the life force out of their own bodies, occasionally leaving them desiccated husks.
